Collection

The Geology Library collection reflects the teaching and research interests of the department faculty and contains books, journals, and maps related to general and environmental geology, historical geology, geomorphology, structure, sedimentology, mineralogy, and petrology.  Publications from the U.S. Geological Survey and many state surveys are available for photocopying or use in the library.  The map collection includes 7 1/2 ' topographic maps from states east of the Mississippi, topographic and geologic maps by state and country, and many thematic maps.  A limited number of video and CDROM products are also available.  The collection holdings can be searched on the online catalog .

Recalling Books

Patrons can recall materials that are checked out from the Geology Library by submitting their requests to the library staff.

 

Hours

Weekdays, 8am - 5pm.
Faculty and students have key card access to the library at any time.

Circulation Policy

Books can be checked from the Geology Library by anyone with Swem library borrowing privileges.  However, many library materials are designated for use in the library only.   Bound and unbound journals, serial publications, reference materials, and maps are to be used in the Geology Library or photocopied.   A copy machine is located in the library for patron use.
