Manuscript Sources

The manuscript section is arranged by the name of the collection, with the pertinent material listed under the heading and the call number affixed. The number of items refers to the entire collection, rather than just the Civil War items. Inventories exist on paper in the library for the majority of the collections -- many with item-by-item descriptions. There is also a manual card catalog with hundreds of entries for the subject heading "Civil War," plus the collections have been entered into the OCLC international database and into the library's card catalog. Researchers are advised to work with this guide and the inventories.
