VIVA Workshop: The Fifty Minute Librarian: Strategies for Effective Library Instruction

Today's students live in an information-saturated environment. Learn how to reach them by:

  • Learning techniques for establishing immediate rapport with students,
  • Developing strategies to reach traditional and non-traditional students, and
  • Gathering best practices from faculty award winners and librarian colleagues

VIVA is offering three workshops targeted at reference and instruction librarians. Each workshop begins with two 50 minute sessions featuring outstanding teaching faculty from VIVA institutions offering "best practices" tips for library instruction in a limited amount of time. Discussion will continue through the lunch and into break-out sessions after lunch. The day will close with a panel of librarians and faculty discussing the topic with the audience.
